Todd Thyberg is Angel Bomb Design. Or Angel Bomb Design is Todd Thyberg. Either way. He is a returning Artcrank artist. Here's his contribution from Artcrank 2010. Todd has over 15 years of experience in graphic design. His work has been featured in numerous exhibitions as well as the How Magazine International Design Annual. He likes Piña Coladas, and getting caught in the rain.

Amy Jo grew up in North Dakota with dreams of being a cowgirl or a ballerina. Those dreams were dashed when she grew to realize that horses are kind of scary, and she couldn't balance on foot very well. (This is a more common path to art school than you may think). This will be Amy Jo's 4th year with work featured at Artcrank. The work above is her piece from Artcrank 2008. Amy Jo also shared a peek at what she's be screen printing for Peace Coffee this weekend.

Next up in my countdown to Artcrank 2011 is Allan Peters. As you can see, Allan and his wife were expecting when he created his 2010 Artcrank piece. A 2002 CVA graduate, he's worked at Initio, Gage, BBDO, and Target. Here's a link to an interview with Allan where among other things he blythy mentions getting shot defending his wife against thieves a couple years ago. (Yeah, I had to read that line over again too).

Can you say Three-peat? Go ahead, say it. It's fun! This will be the third creation for Artcrank by the Madison, Wisconsin transplants Dan Ibarra and Michael Byzewski who form the duo Aesthetic Apparatus. Last year's effort is another print I was powerless against. (Buying them is easy and affordable. Framing them is neither!)
-
Adam supplied the Artcrank 2010 poster. Looking forward to what he comes up with this year. Based on the work here on his website, it's going to be amazing.

Oh yeah, and it's not like he's obsessed with biking, or posters, or biking posters............Well maybe a little.
-
Last year I bought 9 posters at Artcrank, but I've only managed to frame two of them. Aaron's poster is one that made the cut. You can check more of his work out here.
-
Today's post features the collective 2and21. We've got 39 days until Artcrank here at the studio, and these folks are supplying one of the posters. Michelle Swanson, Clarissa Hernandez, Peter Hahn are the collective 2and21.

My ongoing posts of 41 Artcrank artists in 41 days continues with designer Jason Miller, but begins with Andy Thieman. A copywriter at Target InHouse and an avid cyclist, Andy was diagnosed with testicular cancer on Christmas Eve. (Yeah, Merry F'n Christmas!) After surgery, and several rounds of chemo, his numbers are looking good. His goal is to ride with Lance and other cancer survivors next Fall. He is documenting his fight with cancer here: Blood + Sweat + Chemo. This is where Jason Miller comes in. 100% of proceeds from the sale of Jason M. Miller’s Artcrank poster will be donated to Andy’s 2011 LIVESTRONG Challenge campaign. Go here and make a small donation, you know you want to.

Over the next 41 days, peppered here and there between my other ramblings, I'll be giving a shout out to each of the 41 artists chosen to be part of Artcrank 2011 which will again be held here at the studio. It's best to start at the beginning, and you shouldn't be surprised to find the very talented Kelly Munson, who is always at the beginning of something good, to be up first. She has created the Artcrank 2011 poster and it's a beauty! Here's a link to her personal website winterbornstudio I won't be able to show you the other posters until they are unveiled here April 2th, partly because it's a surprise, and partly because I have found that some of them aren't a gleam in the eye of the artists yet. (You know who you are.) I will be posting links to their sites where possible, and probably just making stuff otherwise.
I worked with Kelly and the folks at Mono to launch NiceRide last summer.

The New Standards played here at the studio last night during a fundraiser for the Yinghua Chinese Immersion Academy.

Fallon's BMW Films was recently celebrated as Best of the Digital Decade! I can't believe it's already been 10 years. It wasn't the dawn of digital imaging, but the movie viewer I created with Fallon for the series was a test of my ability, Photoshop software, and Apple hardware. I was still a little green back then working with Photoshop 6 on the "New" Mac G4 With 256 megs of ram, This file became a beast because of the hundreds of layers required for the L.E.D's, bevels, and scrubbers I had created to make Nate Hinz' vision of the viewer on which you would watch the films come to life. (Youtube wasn't around for 4 more years.)

It's always fun to walk into a store and see your work. Here's some packaging I shot with Colle McVoy's design director Ed Bennett for Caribou. We shot burlap, scraps of paper, thread etc. and set it up in layers so it could be edited as needed for furure packaging.

Enjoyed good conversation, and some fine Surley Furious beer at Studio on Fire with Ben Levitz this evening.

Also snagged a print to be framed and hung in Shelter's kitchen shortly!

Preparations are underway for our second year as host for Artcrank, a Poster Party for Bike People. Charles Youel, Kate O'Reilly, and various other Mpls. luminaries came by to discuss the plan for an expanded event this year. (I think that means more than an additional keg, although that would be fine too).
-
Photo Assistants. Don't miss "Know Your Crew" hosted by the ASMP here at our studio Ferbuary 16th. Sign up here.
-
Did you get your copy of my shot from Bilbao, Spain? Let Liz know where you are and we'll send you one.
-
Still mesmerized by daylight steaming into the studio! (And apparently my hipstamatic Iphone app as well).
-
A cross country skier moves past some ice pillars during one of the Minneapolis Loppet events. I think these may be luminaries. You'll have to stop by Lake of the Isles tonight to find out.

Things with the new window installation are progressing nicely.
